Producer

After my positions as editor at SWR in Baden-Baden and afterwards in ZDF, I worked as a freelance executive producer between 1984 and 1991 and then (until present) as a producer. So what is the difference between an executive producer and producer? That's easy: A executive producer is paid a suitable amount of money to work with other peoples' money, ideally for a producer or TV station. A producer, on the other hand, calculates project costs and procures the necessary funding for the film. If he/she spends everything, or too much, or if anything remains as revenue, it's his/her own risk. Öffnet einen internen Link im aktuellen Fenstermore

Director

I've directed at least once a year since 1988! Then I take time off from producing and voluntarily submit myself to another producer's rules. This sometimes irritates the commissioning TV stations or film producers sometimes because in Germany people aren't used to creative minds juggling different professions. But I have so much fun directing that I want to continue pursuing this profession. Since I believe in the corrective nature of our business, I would never want to direct projects that I am responsible for as a producer. Öffnet einen internen Link im aktuellen Fenstermore

Author

Regardless of the fact that I write for and develop all the shows I produce (like the recent RTL show  "Millionär gesucht!") agencies also book me as an author for major company events that I put on myself. These events in halls for audiences of ten to twelve thousand in number are a welcome change from everyday life in television! It's because such events are not for the typical TV audience with an age limit of 48 but instead, these shows have to inform and entertain all the employees of the companies that hire us.
